The plays of Fiorean longsword are a set of training exercises in which the scolaro is trying to demonstrate a new tactic or better technique with which to gain an edge over foes. The First Masters of Battle plays focus on teaching the zugadore what not to do early on, and also a bit about distance and the virtue of Prudentia.
